SEPTEMBER MEETINGS

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 29th September 2010 @ 7.30pm.
Amongst the items on the agenda will be to collate the entries for the J Haywood Cup Competiton which was a big success last season and depending on the numbers, maybe formulate the draw. Entry sheet is up on the notice board as of now, open to all members (please enter as individuals, pairings will be decided by a draw).
Also the possibility of holding another competition evening evening similar to the ever-popular Christmas Party Night but with slightly different games was suggested, maybe to take place in either November or March when the dark nights were still in the ascendancy.
There was a good take-up of interest for players wishing to represent the club in the coming season's Darley Dale and Orme Snooker League, and at present it looks like there could be three teams with captains being Ricki Slack, Shaun Bunting and Jason Fretwell.
Also not forgetting best wishes from all the members to long standing chairman Alan Hopkinson for his ongoing recuperation period.
Plus a reminder the Institute will be closed for normal business between 7-9pm on Thursday 30th September 2010 as the Bolehill Improvement Group will be staging one of their quarterly meetings on the premises.

SNOOKER TEAM SELECTION MEETING UPCOMING

The snooker team selection meeting for the forthcoming local league season will be held on THURSDAY, 19th AUGUST at 7.30pm.
All paid up members interested in playing should attend. There will be four players per team next season with four singles matches and one doubles to follow, it will be run on a limited handicap basis.
Also club competition entry forms are now on the notice board for the forthcoming year, the J Haywood Trophy (pairs competition) hopefully will be played from October-December with the remaining events held from January onwards, not forgetting the ever popular Christmas Party night which includes the flying snooker, darts, dominoes and crib.

DARLEY DALE SNOOKER LEAGUE SEASON 2009/2010

The remaining team representing the Institute finished a very noteworthy third in the local league, finishing with 65 points from 20 matches and winning 13 of them.
The team comprised mainly of Ricki Slack (18), Colin Marchington (17), Ian Birks (10), Mick Bunting (9), Kevin Holmes (8) with others used being Andrew Brough (1), Steven Mellor (1), Ian Cresswell (1), David Marchington and Simon Zoppi (points earned in brackets).
Ricki won the open individual and individual handicap knockout events, Kevin won the previous non-winners knockout event whilst Simon and Andrew were runners-up in the pairs handicap knockout event.
All in all a successful season as the team did pretty much as well as could have been expected.
