IMPORTANT DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

WE ARE pleased to announce the Christmas Party Night will be held on Saturday 15th January 2011 @ 6.30pm. Entry forms are now on the notice board, £1 per competition (to be paid on the night) with winners taking all for each event - snooker (3 reds), darts (501 up), dominoes (running out) and crib. Buffet also to be held, and members encouraged to bring in their own offerings. Entries need to be in by the Thursday in order for the draw to be made beforehand to save time.

Two days later its time for the Annual General Meeting and all members are strongly advised to attend this to have your say on Monday 17th January @ 7.30pm.

Finally the Alternative Games Night will be held on Saturday 5th March 2011 @ 6.30pm. Again entry forms are on the notice baord, £1 per competition (to be paid on the night) with winners taking all for each event - Brazilian snooker, darts (round the clock), dominoes (5s and 3s) and cards (knock out whist). Members similarly invited to bring in food for the buffet. Entries again need to be in by the Thursday in order for the draw to be made beforehand to save time.

A reminder that the regular competition fees are due and should go to competition secretary Ricki Slack or one of the other committee members to pass on. The draws have been made and sheets are now up,  but matches commence on Monday 24th January.

Also note that new dates have been put on the J Haywood Cup matches (see below) in order to help get them played, I've changed them on the noticeboard too for your convenience - if anyone can't make it they will have to arrange an alternative date or forfeit the match as its getting too late for any other course of action, no charge obviously if you have to withdraw. Thanks.

QUARTERLY LEAGUE REVIEW

WELL THE NEW Darley Dale League snooker season is underway and already a quarter of the way through (for those teams who have not had a bye!!) Doesn't time fly!!

It's been an encouraging start for our teams this year although of course there's still a long way to go!!
The No 1 team suffered a 5-0 loss at perennial bogey opponents Belper Strutt Club No 1 second game in - after winning their first by the same score - but have since recovered to post three successive wins so four out of five ain't bad (as Meatloaf almost said but not quite lol).

The No 2 team had a torrid start with two defeats against fairly tough opposition early doors (OK one of them was us!!) but it was always going to be a learning curve and they have bounced back very well indeed with a 4-1 win and a brilliant 3-2 win over previously mentioned unbeaten opponents Belper Strutt Club No 1 last time out. Really pleased for Dwayne and the lads in what for most of them is their first season involved and it should give them some great encouragement for the rest of the year to come.

Our youngsters in the No 3 team also put up a great effort a couple of games back losing only 3-2 away to last seasons league champions the Edgefold Club which is definitely their best result so far in what has been a tough set of opening fixtures for the lads. Its unfortunate their first home game was cancelled against a fellow "B" team but the more matchplay they get the better they should become and hopefully their first win is just around the corner!!

Also, unfortunately the early games have been postponed in the Jack Haywood Cup competition for various reasons so hopefully we can get them arranged and back on track ASAP. Thanks all.
