KEITH IS ON CUE FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY
![]() |
| KEITH ROBERTSON, winner of the Christmas 3-red snooker event. |
Winner of the traditional (mostly) 3-red "Flying" snooker knockout competition was Keith Robertson of Bonsall, who defeated the No 2 team captain Mick Bunting in the final, which was the only contest played with a full pack.
He had earlier come through matches against David Marchington, Andrew Brough and Ricki Slack in the semi final, the latter seeing him score a break of 22 on his first visit to the table.
The final itself was a nervy encounter, either that or too much of the amber nectar had been consumed by that point(!), but Keith gradually found his feet to pull clear after Mick had made the early running.
Mick gained compensation by winning the dominoes competition, whilst Sean O'Sullivan of Hartington is fast becoming the local master of the dartboard with his third consecutive success including the last two Christmas competitions and last years round the clock event to boot.
Competitors paid £1 each to enter and the winning players took the pot for each event.
A buffet was provided by members, and the crib event was still going on well into the early hours, so details on that will be updated in due course....!!

FRIENDLY DEFEAT FOR COMBINED TEAM
THE FIRST competitive action of the season saw a combined Bolehill Institute team with players from both No 1 and No 2 outfits beaten 7-1 by the visitors from Duffield Club.
The two previous encounters, also friendlies, between the sides had ended in fairly close verdicts but on this occasion although some of the restricted-to-20-minute frames were in the balance until the latter stages, they mostly ended up going in the same direction.
Andrew Brough contributed the sole success for the home side with a black ball win over Tom Lucas, which eventually came courtesy of an unlucky in-off from the latter.
Simon Zoppi also showed fine form but unfortunately not in home colours as he swapped sides and filled in for the Duffield team who were a couple of men down and produced a sparkling 27 break in defeating Ricki Slack.
Jimmy Gratton showed his class for Duffield with an excellent clearance of 70 in one of the latter pairs contests, one of the highest breaks seen in the building in competitive matchplay.
Thanks to those who turned out for both teams in this early-season workout, namely Ricki, Simon, Andrew, Colin Marchington, Keith Robertson and Martin Forster along with visitors Danny Cooper, Jimmy and Tom.
Hopefully the cobwebs will have been blown away and its all systems go from here!!

TWO TEAMS FOR THE 2012/2013 SEASON
FOLLOWING the registration meeting, it was agreed that Bolehill Institute should enter two teams in the Darley Dale and District Snooker League for the 2012/2013 season.
The No 1 team will be as per last season's Captains Cup winning side, apart from Guy Shirley who is no longer a member of the club and is playing elsewhere this time around.
And although players were in short supply, the No 2 team will be based around most of the players from last season's No 3 team although Keith Roberston has agreed to join the ranks, having been playing for last season's No 2 team previously, just to confuse the issue lol!!
The No 2 team from last year are no more and are playing elsewhere.
Good luck to both our teams for the forthcoming season!!
