CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT WINNERS 2025/26

CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT winners were: Snooker - Colin Marchington; Darts - Paul Tunnicliffe; Dominoes - David Hopkinson and Crib - Paul Tunnicliffe (subsituted in final by Dan Hopkinson due to time constraints). There was an attendance of 14 members, thanks to everyone for making it a successful and enjoyable night.

THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT will be held on SATURDAY JANUARY 10th with an earlier start proposed of 5pm to celebrate fifty years of membership of the Institute for David Hopkinson and Mick Bunting. All members welcome, let us know beforehand if you are coming - the usual competitions of snooker, darts, dominoes and crib will take place.

CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT ON HORIZON

THE ANNUAL "CHRISTMAS" PARTY NIGHT will be held at the Institute on Saturday, January 11th @ 6.30pm featuring the usual knockout competitions of Snooker, Darts, Dominoes and Crib (you can pick and choose or enter all, usually with a prize fund after a small entry fee). Orders for food will be taken on the night. All members welcome.
Also the club competitions have been drawn and are shown on the noticeboard, scheduled for Friday nights with either 6.30pm / 7.45pm (for double headers) or 7.00pm starts though these can be re-scheduled to suit.

SEASON REVIEW, PAIRS & 3-BALL SUCCESS

IAN BIRKS and RICKI SLACK

ALTHOUGH the league campaign was less than stellar this time around, Bolehill's Ricki Slack and Ian Birks found their form in the Denis Morton Trophy pairs handicap competition by fighting off all opposition to lift the prize with a narrow 4-3 win over Edgefold's championship winning players Steve Burton and Duncan Harwood at Crich Comrades.
Trailing three times, the Bolehill pair fought back on each occasion and eventually took the decider when their opponents went in-off on the black which they had needed to force a re-spot. It could have been decided earlier but the Matlock pair twice came back from the snookers required stage and it was around 11.40pm before the cup could eventually be lifted!
Bolehill survived a scare in the semi final when 2-0 down to Nick Berry and Paul Trevett of Crich and already needing a snooker with the opposition just having to pot the pink over the pocket but the cue ball followed it through and completely turned the game around, resulting in a 3-2 win.
Prior to that there was a 3-1 win at Alfreton Palmer Morewood over Ady and Jack Lowe and a 3-0 home win over Lee Hage and Duncan Waring of Clay Cross in the first round.
Ricki had one of his better competition breaks of 57 in the opening round plus 33 and 22 in the final while Ian notched 32 in the quarter final and 24 in the final.

Ricki also finished runners-up in the OMYA Cup scratch competition but it was always a tough ask to beat multi-centurion Ben Monk of Alfreton Palmer Morewood off level in the final at Tansley and eventually it was the favourite who prevailed 4-1.

In the T & M Motors Snooker League, the team finished seventh out of nine but did pick up somewhat after a disastrous start when they were lying rock bottom around the halfway stage. Plus they reached semi finals of both cup competitions.

RICKI SLACK and ANDREW BROUGH 

The billiards team of Andrew Brough and Ricki Slack finished joint winners in the Elliott Carpets Billiards League with a last gasp 14-9 win at Tansley Potters forcing a tie with those opponents at the top. Last season saw Bolehill take the hat-trick of league and both cups but it was a decent effort again this time around off adjusted handicaps.

INSTITUTE BECOMES POLLING STATION & CLOSED FOR NORMAL USE THURS MAY 2nd

 Please note that the Institute will be closed for normal business all day on Thursday, May 2nd as it is being used as a polling station for the upcoming mayoral / police commissioner elections. Thank you.

2023-24 BOLEHILL FIXTURES AVAILABLE

THE new fixtures are out for the forthcoming Darley Dale Snooker and Billiards League and can be found by clicking the links on the right. We have one team in each league, with the snooker team hoping to build on fourth place last season and the billiards line-up aiming to emulate a fantastic year where they swept the board in the team and doubles competitions, though the revised handicaps will make it tougher this time around. Good luck to all those participating.
