SEAN IS AT THE DOUBLE ONCE MORE!

ANOTHER Bolehill double for quickfire format specialist SEAN O'SULLIVAN.

A GOOD TIME was had by all at the recent Christmas Party Night which saw quickfire games of snooker, darts, dominoes and crib contested by a decent turnout of club members.

And once again it was Reapsmoor-based Sean O'Sullivan who came to the fore over the short match format, as he did the snooker-darts double after achieving the same feat at the alternative games night in November.

With all snooker matches up to the final played with just three reds, it really was anyone's to win but there was no stopping Sean as he came though matches with Jonathan Hopkinson, Andrew Brough and then Ian Peacock in the final (the only frame played with a full pack).

Chairman Alan Hopkinson also turned back the clock with some fine potting to achieve a noteworthy semi final appearance.

In the darts event, Sean defeated Ian (again), Alan and then Mick Bunting in a high quality final by 3 legs to 2 which featured plenty of good scoring throughout.

And there was almost a hat-trick as Sean was only edged out in the final of the dominoes by Andrew Brough who had earlier defeated three Hopkinsons along the way, David, Jonathan and Dan!

There was still the crib to be decided and this time Andrew had to give best in the final to Ian Peacock, who himself came through tests against Dan and Jonathan on his way to the victory roster.

A very extensive buffet was provided by club members which meant some very full stomachs and no doubt leftovers for the dog on returning home!!

Earlier in the week, the J Hall Trophy (Bolehill Billiards Handicap) was won by Ricki Slack, who beat yes, you've guessed it - Sean O'Sullivan - in the final by 125-83.

IMPROVEMENT GROUP MEETING

THE next Bolehill Improvement Group Meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 18th between 7pm and 9pm. The Institute will be closed for normal business during these hours. Thanks.

AGM & CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT DATES

THE dates have been agreed for this season's Annual General Meeting and Christmas Party Night. The AGM will be held on Thursday, January 12th @ 7.30pm while the Christmas get-together will be held on Saturday, January 14th @ 6.30pm.
Members are encouraged to contribute food towards the buffet on the Saturday and the usual competitions will be held - Snooker (3 reds), Darts (501 up), Dominoes (running out) and Crib. As usual £1 per event with the winner taking all.
An entry form will be placed on the notice board so as to get an indication of numbers on the night.
Also a reminder to all members not to park blocking any part of the entrance to Lant Lane Farm next door, please pass this on to visiting teams too if you can in order to help avoid any unnecessary situations. Thanks.

SEAN SAMBAS TO BRAZILIAN TITLE

SEAN O'SULLIVAN displays his Brazilian Snooker and Darts trophies.

SEAN O'SULLIVAN maybe created history at the weekend by becoming the winner of what was perhaps the first ever Brazilian Snooker tournament held in the UK (unless you know better!)

A small but select(!) gathering were on hand to contest four new trophies on an alternative games night held to complement the main Christmas Snooker get-together which takes place in early January.

Competing for the inaugural B.I. Copa Brasileira de Sinuca, Sean had qualified for the final by winning three of his four group games where he met Ricki Slack who held an identical record.

Sean had won the group clash between the pair on the final black and the final was no less close. Sean led by 18 with 20 points available before Ricki potted the final pink.

But with black lying in an unpromising position right on the bottom cushion, perfect position was needed as it had to be taken as a colour with the very next shot to make the win a possibility and when the cue ball fell short and the pot was missed, Sean was crowned champion.

He had also earlier notched the top break of the night with a 34 against Dwayne Martin to snatch victory after trailing by a good few points early doors.

Sean also took the Haydn Spencer "Round The Clock" Darts Trophy, again defeating Ricki in the final (after both had won three out of four in their group) to round off an impressive evening's work.

The Tommy Gilbert "5s and 3s" Dominoes Trophy went to Keith Robertson, who defeated Dwayne in the final and Mick Bunting lifted the George Brooks Knock Out Whist Trophy by again defeating the luckless Ricki in the final.

Overall an enjoyable informal night with a few sandwiches laid on and a successful first venture into playing a few of these different games, hopefully we will try again next year!!

THE 2011/2012 billiards handicap competition has been drawn and is now available to peruse on the notice board.
This years competitions have been moved to Fridays as agreed by the committee as there are now league matches taking place on certain Mondays of course.
